Cryptolocker Virus Targeting Medical and Dental Offices
We are bringing this urgent alert of a very serious threat to your practice's sensitive patient data.
Our office has been inundated with many calls of a malware called cryptolocker
What this malicious program does is, it encrypts all of the files on your computer and displays a ransom notice that if $500 worth of Bitcoin is not sent to a specified address within 3 days all of your files will be lost.
See image below.
This program has the ability to infect mapped drives. A more far reaching issue is how to prevent infection. This thing is nasty and has the potential to do enourmous amounts of damage worldwide!

If your computers are infected with this program immediately shut down your computer and call our office.
There as of this moment there are NO KNOWN CURES to recovering files that are encrypted. (Besides paying the ransom)
We strongly recommend that you have current antivirus programs running, and up to date and current backups.
Here is a video on one way to solve this issue.
